About the Winter Program
The HBC winter program generally includes:
-
Approximately two practices per week
-
Competitive league games, weekend tournaments, or a combination of both
-
Coaching focused on individual development and team play
-
Opportunities to compete against programs from throughout southeastern Wisconsin
-
Practices beginning around mid-October
-
A season that typically concludes by the end of February
Exact schedules will vary by team, grade level, gym availability, coaching availability, and the competitive format selected for each program.
2026–27 Program Details
The HBC Board is still finalizing several details for the upcoming season, including:
-
Player registration fees
-
Uniform costs
-
League and tournament participation
-
The competitive format for portions of the girls program
Some teams may primarily participate in league play, some may play a tournament-focused schedule, and others may use a hybrid format.
Final information will be communicated to families as decisions are completed and before selected players are asked to make a final commitment.
Registering for tryouts does not commit a family to costs or program details that have not yet been communicated.
Multi-Sport Athletes Are Welcome
HBC strongly supports multi-sport athletes. Many of our players participate in other school, club, and community sports throughout the year.
We ask families to communicate known conflicts with their coaching staff. Coaches will do their best to work with athletes while maintaining reasonable expectations for practices, games, and tournaments.
Why Play for HBC?
HBC gives young athletes an opportunity to:
-
Develop their basketball skills
-
Learn how to contribute within a team
-
Compete against strong programs
-
Build confidence and basketball knowledge
-
Prepare for future school basketball opportunities
-
Represent the Hartford community
We look forward to welcoming returning players and meeting new athletes who are ready to work, improve, and compete!
